The Retirement Business Development & Marketing Specialist is primarily responsible for helping Stifel Financial Advisors sell Stifel's Retirement Plan services to their clients. The role focuses on cultivating new business opportunities, consulting with advisors to assist them with prospecting, benchmarking, closing retirement plan opportunities. This may involve telephone conversations and conference calls, conducting branch meetings, interfacing with the client's other professional advisors (primarily accountants and third-party administrators), presenting at seminars and similar events, and meeting in person with Financial Advisors and their clients.
• Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with financial advisors, third-party administrators (TPAs), recordkeeping and DCIO wholesalers to identify business opportunities in order to drive proposal generation and plan sales.
• Educate Stifel Financial Advisors about Stifel's Retirement Plan services, how to identify good plan prospects, and the merits of incorporating retirement plans into their business.
• Meet with Stifel Financial Advisors and/or their clients to assist the Financial Advisors in discussing and selling Stifel's retirement plan services to the clients.
• Utilize a consultative business development approach to understand client objectives and recommend suitable retirement plan services. Clearly articulate the benefits and features of various retirement solutions.
• Stay informed about various retirement plan products, tools and resources.
• Prepare proposals, materials and similar documents while explaining and helping to sell/coordinate Stifel's retirement plan services.
• Overnight travel is required up to 25% of the time. Special circumstances may require additional travel.
• Experience in building relationships and communicating with financial advisors.
• In-depth understanding of retirement plans, such as 401(k)s, Cash Balance, and Non-Qualified Plans, and relevant compliance regulations.
• Capable of working autonomously to deliver tangible outcomes.
• Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum Required: 7+ years of related experience.
• Minimum Required: FINRA Series 7.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365.
