What You'll Be Doing

Stifel Bank & Trust is looking for a talented, highly motivated self-starter to join its Private Bank Lending team as a Credit Analyst.

 

Private Bank Lending is a dynamic, solution-driven team that structures custom lending solutions for Ultra-High Net Worth individuals, Family Offices, and entrepreneurs. The team’s offering represents a strategic service to a key and focal client segment of the firm. The team employs a collaborative approach, working together with Financial Advisors in the Wealth Management division to serve highly sophisticated and demanding clients, and levering product and subject matter experts across the firm to evaluate complex collateral assets. Private Bank Lending has broad capabilities and expertise to structure and underwrite loans secured by various collateral types including public equities, fixed income, alternative investments, real estate, and luxury assets, among others.     

 

The Credit Analyst will be engaged primarily in supporting the underwriting and structuring of new lending transactions, the lifecycle management of existing loans, and portfolio risk management efforts and will immediately participate in Private Bank Lending’s end-to-end credit process and will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the team, its capabilities, and its impact across Stifel.

 

What We're Looking For

  • Diligence and evaluate collateral assets, which may include public securities, alternative investments, ownership of private companies, real estate, luxury assets, etc. Research collateral, examine financial and market data, and liaise with subject matter experts to perform risk analysis on collateral.
  • Review financial statements to determine the credit quality of borrowers.
  • Assist in the preparation of credit risk memorandums, term sheets, and loan documentation.
  • Prepare annual/quarterly reviews on existing loans in the portfolio.
  • Prepare and execute renewal and amendment requests, and address client ad hoc requests.
  • Proactively track loan reporting requirements and covenants.
  • Coordinate loan administration with Financial Advisors, Loan Operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the quality and soundness of borrowers and collateral through ongoing research and review of financial and market data.
  • Develop expertise in various bank systems and applications, related technology architecture, and underlying databases
  • Support ongoing portfolio monitoring and reporting requirements, and portfolio risk management efforts
  • Assist in the development of applications/tools/models to analyze loan book data

  • Knowledge of, and interest in economic and accounting principles, financial markets, banking, and wealth management.
  • Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Office applications.
  • Some familiarity with VBA, SQL (or other programming/scripting languages), and Bloomberg (or other market data applications), is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or another business or quantitative field, or other equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum required: 0-2 years' of commercial credit analyst work or related experience; 1-2 years of credit or financial experience preferred.

  • Minimum Required: None

Systems & Technology

  • Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft 365 / Microsoft Office applications.
  • Some familiarity with VBA, SQL (or other programming/scripting languages), and Bloomberg (or other market data applications), is a plus.
